A urinary tract infection is a type of infection that affects the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Its symptoms include a persistent urge to urinate, a burning feeling while urinating, urine that looks cloudy or has blood in it and pelvic pain. UTIs are sometimes accompanied by fever, nausea, and vomiting, and may be mistaken for other conditions.
