STILFOLD has been awarded the prestigious STEP Seal by the European Commission, an honour given to only 2% of all projects in the EU. The recognition confirms STILFOLD’s technological excellence and importance for Europe’s industrial and technological independence, opening doors to priority funding, investor interest, and new partnerships across Europe.
STILFOLD, the Swedish clean-tech and manufacturing technology company behind the groundbreaking curve-folding process, has been awarded the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) Seal by the European Commission. This prestigious mark of excellence recognizes STILFOLD as one of Europe’s most strategically important technology projects.
The STEP Seal is granted only to a small fraction of projects (<2%) that meet the EU’s strict criteria for technological excellence, industrial scalability, and contribution to Europe’s technological sovereignty. Since its launch in late 2024, only 190 projects across 23 Member States have received this distinction.
“This recognition validates both the transformative potential of our technology and its importance to Europe’s industrial future,” said Jonas Nyvang, CEO of STILFOLD. “We are proud to be part of an elite cohort driving Europe’s clean-tech and manufacturing innovation at a global scale.”
What the STEP Seal Means for STILFOLD
• European Commission Endorsement: Confirms STILFOLD’s innovation as critical to EU industrial and technological independence.
• Priority Access to EU and National Funding: Seal holders are prioritized for Cohesion Policy Funds, Recovery and Resilience Facility resources, and InvestEU blended finance.
• Investor De-risking: The STEP Seal acts as an EU-level validation, reducing perceived risk for public and private investors.
• Enhanced Visibility: STILFOLD will be featured on the STEP Portal and InvestEU Portal, connecting directly with industrial and financial partners across Europe.
A Catalyst for Scaling Sustainable Manufacturing
STILFOLD’s proprietary curve-folding technology enables stronger, lighter, and more sustainable manufacturing using flat sheet metal. By reducing material waste, energy consumption, and tooling costs, STILFOLD helps industries like automotive, aerospace, and mobility decarbonize and scale production cost-effectively.
“The STEP Seal positions us to accelerate the industrialization of our technology and unlock critical partnerships and funding channels across Europe,” Nyvang added.
