Actor-director Rishab Shetty’s highly anticipated film ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is set to hit theatres on October 2, 2025, coinciding with the Dussehra festival. The announcement was made on November 17, 2024, by the production house. Along with the release date, the makers shared a poster from the film.

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is a prequel to the original film, which was released in 2022 and became a massive success, grossing over Rs 400 crores worldwide while being made on a minimal budget of just Rs 16 crore. The first installment earned Rishab Shetty accolades, including the Best Actor award and recognition as the Best Popular Film for providing wholesome entertainment at the 70th National Film Awards for its engaging storytelling and entertainment value.
The teaser for ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, released earlier in 2023, presented Rishab Shetty in a divine avatar with an intense look. He is seen handling a trident and an axe in his hands with a fierce look at the moon while being drenched in blood.
The film will be continuing the legacy of its previous installment exploring mythology and action again.
Rishab Shetty is intensively preparing for his upcoming film ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Earlier this year, he shared a glimpse of his training on social media, where he was seen practising Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art form from Kerala. He was mastering the sword technique essential for his role in the film.
